Ours is an era where basic needs have doubled, if not tripled. And among the newbie needs, phones top the list.
You see, owning a phone may seem pretty normal till you lose it. Worst ordeal ever. I can only equate to it to loosing clothes. Well, at least that’s how I see it.
With the mobile phone craze, just like any other craze, comes personal judgement.
Yes! Our phones silently scream out the societal circle we belong to. And as if that was not enough, it yells much more about us. These things must have a pretty loud mouth huh!
And since phones speak loads about one’s personality. Here’s a breakdown of what other people think about you in regards to that device you treasure.
Feature phones
Wipe that blank look off you face. I know you have no idea what those are. That means you do not own one. But if you do. I will have a great time trolling you.
Feature phones are those phones that were the in thing before smartphones. You know those phones that were basically communication devices with a little extras thrown in just to spice it up?
The only thing you’d do on such a phone was call, text, make calculations among other very basic functions. Oh! I forgot one. Play Snake Xenzia or those games with really bad quality.
In simpler terms, feature phones are those phones with way lesser capabilities and feature compared to smartphones.
If you own a feature phone, you are either too broke, too stingy or a lover of simplicity.
I know of a number of filthy rich people who still use the Nokia 3310 just because it is very easy to use and extremely user friendly. Their thoughts. Not mine.
But if you are stuck with your Motorola C113 because you cannot afford another phone or you fear getting a smartphone only to end up donating it to River Road phone snatchers, you know where you belong.
One thing I love about feature phones is their simplicity and battery life. The battery life though, sigh.
Smartphones
I bet most, if not all, of you reading this have one of these in hand right now gazing down on those AMOLED/IPS screens like your life depends on it.
Smartphones are the new age phones. Phone with so many capabilities and the specs of a 3rd generation PC. As a matter of fact, current smartphones beat some PCs pants down in performance.
So if you own a smartphone, it means you are sophisticated and prefers having all your tasks done at the touch of a button. This could also mean you are painfully lazy or a loner.
It’s saddening how smartphones have turned some of us into zombies.
But that’s not all.
We have the wannabes and the apes. Those who will own phones simply because others do. These are the kind of people with very flashy phones but have no idea what the syncing option under accounts setting is all about.
With the numerous proficiencies of smartphones, we all get smartphones for different reason, based on the quality of providing to your specific needs. And that also screams tonnes about us.
For instance, if one is a chronic selfie addict, they will go for a phone with a very good front camera which translates to a better rear camera anyway.
Similarly, if you are a gamer, you will go for a phone with a GPU to die for, great screen resolution, as much RAM as your money can get you, and a processor that can withstand torture from your gaming escapades.
What about the business people? They prefer phones that provide access to various platforms be it online or mere business files on their encrypted storage devices. Security of their information is also a key consideration they make before getting a phone.
And then there is Nick. Yeah. I’m sure y’all know Nick Muthumbi. He gets his phones based on a myriad of specs. Quality specs.
If a phone has poor screen quality, pathetic pixel density, an equally depressing processor and the RAM of a smart watch, Nick is better off without a phone. What? The camera? Not much of an issue for him, but let’s face it; If a phone has kick ass specs you don’t expect the camera to be a bummer. I would call Nick a power user. His phone is the most unlucky gadget on earth.
To wrap it up, phones do tell a tale about who we are. And the saddest part is that we often lack the chance to prove otherwise if need be.
My advice? Get a phone that suits your personality. You do not want people misjudging you because of an item that money can buy.
Lol ???????????????????????
