I bet occurrences of the past few weeks affected me more than I expected. Normally, I never hover around the same issue for so long unless it is business oriented or it has made an incision to the man I am.
In this case, the incision was way too deep.
After stripping our sisters, I sort out observe the position of the woman in our society.
How does society regard women?
What comes to one’s mind when they see a frustum wearer?
Do we really accord these people the respect they deserve?
As much as I am no feminist proponent, I strongly believe that whoever cares for and protects a woman protects an entire nation if not the whole world.
Now, in a very recent case of typical disrespect for women, some idiot who had flown into Kenya to live with the Facebook love of his life flashed the lady’s diabetes meds down the toilet leading to her untimely death.
The available details are scanty, but my instincts tell me this was an affair of love gone sour.
In a separate case, I lost a friend to a similar love triangle ordeal when her ex (as the boys in blue believe) doused her in sulphuric acid. I kid you not. I saw her sulphated face and it was heart wrenching.
Why are you giggling? What’s so funny?
Clearly, it’s the ladies who suffer more often then not in such cases.
Why?
Because some lame excuses of men think they own women. Once they start courting, they want to run the lady’s life.
They demand an account of who, what, when and where whenever the lady is not around them.
It only gets worse when they get married and the bugger pays dowry.
He now rubs his beerful belly every time he introduces his wife. “Huyu ndiye mama wa kwangu” you’ll hear them blurt out shamelessly. Even a house help deserves a better introduction for crying out loud!
Music.
If there’s anything that has played a major role in demeaning women, it should be music.
Either via lyrics or video, a woman never goes scott free.
I was watching a recent music video and some lines were really catchy.
Yes!
They made me catch feelings. Well, the most peculiar line went like “Nakugusa haga, unaskia thithi…”
Now tell me, who does that? Groping a random woman’s behind as if it’s some fruit in a groceries stand.
Videos on the other hand, are even worse.
In most music videos, women are portrayed as sex idols. Scantily dressed and dancing provocatively. I am told all this is in a bid to get money. Fine, there should be a gender balance then. No homo.
So in a nutshell, I only wish guys would pause before proceeding to disrespect a woman and ask themselves,
“WHAT IF SHE WAS MY DAUGHTER/SISTER/MOTHER?”
